A safer, easier way to transfer patients to and from air transport with a gurney.
For Flight & Hospital Crews
Designed by a seasoned Flight Paramedic
The Level Deck is a fully patented device.
common issues
PATIENT SAFETY
- Compromised Patient Stability
- Delay In Transfer
CREW SAFETY
Medical personnel may face challenges in smoothly transferring patients if the gurney’s height doesn’t match that of the helicopter. This can lead to increased physical strain on the medical team and potentially compromise the quality of patient care.

EQUIPMENT PROTECTION
The gurney and medical equipment may be at risk of damage if there is a mismatch in height. This could affect the functionality of critical medical devices and compromise the overall care provided during the transfer.

The Level Deck addresses all of the issues above.
key features
The Level Deck was designed to address several different issues the founder and developer noticed during his years of service as a Flight Paramedic. Highlighting The Level Deck’s features first requires defining the issues it was designed to solve.
The Problems of Patient Transfer When Not Using The Level Deck
GURNEY HEIGHT
The height difference between the helipad gurneys and the helicopter transfer sled deck, depending on the type of helicopter it could be between 6-8 inches in height difference. This would require the flight crew to have to physically lift and lower the patient transfer sled into and out of the helicopter which increased the chances of injury to the crews (i.e. Back, arm, finger injuries).
STABILITY
Stability is the second safety concern when approaching a patient transfer. This extremely fast paced situation requires the professional to move at a tempo that requires delicate handling of patients in need of critical care. Over lifting on one side or the other causing the tilting of the patient increases, which also causes one of the flight crew members to perform a sudden exertion to overcome the tilt and level the patient out which increases their chance of injury. The Level Deck solves these dilemmas while not slowing the process of the transfer. The efficiency provided by this simple, yet ingenious, device will relieve much stress involved in the patient transfer process.
CLOSING THE GAP
The helipad gurneys have gaps where they articulate. This causes hang-ups while sliding the patients on and off the helipad gurney.
PATIENT FOOT POSITION
When sliding the patients out of the helicopter there was the potential for the patient’s feet to drop onto the helicopters transfer sled deck and possibly causing an injury to the patient.
ERGONOMIC DESIGN
Built to remove the physical lifting, lowering and twisting of the personnel that load and unload patients from helicopters. Now it’s just a smooth push and pull.
UNIVERSAL FIT/ COST REDUCTION
Attaches to all gurney’s within minutes. Gurneys are extremely expensive and they come and go, but with the level decks lifetime warranty it won’t.
EXTENSIVELY TESTED
Tested by Western Technologies in Phoenix, AZ to hold 500LBS. Field tested for several years and improved upon to its final design.
ADJUSTABLE HEIGHT
Allowing you to now be able to raise the level of the gurney to the level of the flight sled.
DURABLE CONSTRUCTION
Tested by Western Technologies in Phoenix, AZ to hold 500LBS. Field tested for several years and improved upon to its final design.

The Level Deck Solutions
Correct Height Difference
The Level Deck will first address the uneven surfaces encountered when loading a patient from the gurney onto air transport.
Eliminate Lifting
Level with the helicopter transfer sled removing the physical lifting and lowering and the chance of over lifting one side.
Eliminate Hang-Ups
No gaps leading to a smooth transition onto the helipad gurney. Let’s close the gap!
No More Foot-Drop
A level transfer of the patient from the air ambulance sled deck to the helipad gurney.
our goal: safer transfers for all
about the company
Promoting Safety
RFMedassist was started to promote safety in the Air Ambulance Industry. After being a Flight Paramedic for over thirteen years, the founder and owner of the company realized that after hundreds of patient transfers to and from the helicopters that there had to be a safer and easier way of doing it. That is how the concept of RFMedassist was developed. After speaking with multiple flight crew members about this, they agreed with the problems that are faced and with this being a possible solution.
In 2011 the first prototype was put into service and had excellent comments and reviews. With revisions and improvements over the last few years and with the help and feedback from the flight crews we developed our improved model. Guess what? It worked!
The Air Ambulance Industry’s main concern is to promote safety for its patients and its employees. There are always improvements to be pioneered in this growing industry that require minds with experience in tricky or cumbersome situations. Let me introduce you to flight medic Robert Ferrin, who has over thirteen years of flight experience, massing hundreds of patient transfers. With an eye to keep his fellow employees safe, while improving the efficiency of patient care, Ferrin has consulted team members on what he thinks will continue to evolve this much-needed service. With solutions to common crew injuries and reduced risk to already delicate patients Ferrin has founded the RFMedassist company. The first company of its kind to unveil a transfer platform aimed at closing the error gap in any Air Ambulance patient transfer. This product simply named “The Level Deck” has the capacity to revolutionize the efficiency of the industry while seamlessly integrating into the already complex system.
